Produce all of the design related work for Catholic New York, America’s largest Catholic newspaper. Redesigned the brand identity, including the Catholic New York website, media kit and sell sheets. Upload and manage website and social media content. Produce special sections as needed in addition to bi-weekly paper. Create advertising campaigns for archdiocesan offices and outside clients. Oversee workflow of editorial and advertising departments. Communicate daily with Editor-in-Chief on production status.

Freelance Art Director / March 2009 to Present

Art Director for Ami Magazines, a group of weeklies in Brooklyn, NY, Art Director for Woman’s Day Special Interest Publications.

Art Director / Hachette Filipacchi Media / December 2000 to March 2009

Art Director for Woman’s Day Special Interest Publications & Ty Pennington at Home. Provided leadership and mentorship to other designers on the team while also being a hands-on contributor of 30 newsstand-only magazines a year. Developed new title launches including logos, overall design, templates and style sheets. Collaborated with Photo Director and attended shoots both in studio and on location. Reviewed and approved all editorial layouts prior to publication. Hired and supervised designers and illustrators. Worked with Production on quality control and approvals for 4/c, retouching and composed pages. Communicated daily with Editor-in-Chief on cover testing, scheduling and workflow.

Art Director / General Media, Inc. / July 1999 to December 2000

Art Director for Mind & Muscle Power, a monthly fitness magazine for men. Art directed and designed covers, feature stories and departments. Assigned illustrations, photography and oversaw shoots. Designed new templates and style sheets. Reviewed and approved all color separations and editorial layouts prior to publication. Supervised freelance designers. Managed the art budget.

Art Director / Careers & Colleges / April 1997 to March 1999

Managed the art department. Art directed and designed Careers & Colleges, a quarterly magazine. Assigned all illustrations and photography and oversaw shoots. Designed promotional material for the magazine and its parent company. Art directed and designed marketing materials such as newsletters, posters and mailers.
